I now read Measure what matters beyond the first chapter. Although the thinking that I detailed in my previous post on OKRs (How I Define OKRS) still holds true, I now understand better how I can use a combination of leading and lagging indicators in the Key Results.

In the middle of October I went on a 10 day Vipassana meditation retreat. That was honestly one of the hardest things I did in my life. Although the goal is to get out of your misery, during the retreat I couldnāt help but continuously think āI havenāt felt as miserable in the past year as Iām feeling right nowā. Still, I am happy that I did it, and feel it brought me value.

October was about switching off, about relaxing and connecting with friends in the Netherlands. 10 days in the month were dedicated to a Vippassana silent meditation retreat. I hung out with several friends, multiple times. In Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amsterdam. I cycled a total of 425km and had one interview, alas unsuccessful. I enjoyed the Dutch coast, the Utrechtse heuvelrug, Limburg and Brabant rural areas and the Ardennes. Lastly, I started cooking more seriously again.

Iām sitting here in the dunes near Noordwijk and itās a typical autumn day (at least as far as I can remember). Thereās a lot of wind and every 10 minutes of rain is followed by 10 minutes of dry weather with occasional sunshine. The sea is getting close to the dunes, and although there is no danger whatsoever with these conditions, the power of the weather and the sea are a testament to how fragile our society is. Especially in a country where over half of the area is below sea level.
